"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king."How must the ruling parties in Jesus' time felt? The pharisees in power did not truly follow God's law - not in more than appearance, at least. And the political ruler was Caesar, not a Jew. The line was broken; there could be no future King of the Jews.
How much the Enemy have felt, as well, on the day of the Crucifixion? He had succeeded. He had killed God.
Yet God made that line of kings; it is strong and cannot wither and die. The winter of death cannot halt the spring of new life. Beyond the ravages of time, beyond the breaking of earthly political power, and even beyond death - the line was remade in Christ. The crownless babe, born in a stable, again shall be King.
